Design with a sense of Humour - by Dave Nemeth

As we look forward to future trends, we start to see a very interesting development starting to take place, a development so quirky and fun it is bound to bring a smile to anyone’s face. The last thing you want to be doing is having to replace all your furniture on every move. The best option today is to buy quality modular furniture, the term often conjures up images of cheap and nasty Chinese imports made with foil veneers, when in fact these can be found as good quality pieces and even custom manufactured at a more reasonable price than some of the Italian and Scandinavian imports. The simplicity and design of this furniture makes it not only multifunctional but also easy to move into another interior space and allow for growth. A good example are TV units, when buying these make sure there is enough storage for decoders and speakers and that the top surface is large enough to accommodate larger plasma units as technology advances so do pl

Bauhaus design

Bauhaus, was an art school in Germany that combined crafts and the fine arts, and was famous for the approach to design that it publicized and taught. It operated from 1919 to 1933. At that time the German term - literally "house of construction" - was understood as meaning "School of Building". The Bauhaus was first founded by Walter Gropius in Weimar. In spite of its name, and the fact that its founder was an architect, the Bauhaus during the first years of its existence did not have an architecture department. Nonetheless, it was founded with the idea of creating a "total" work of art in which all arts, including architecture, would eventually be brought together. The Bauhaus style later became one of the most influential currents in modern design, Modernist architecture and art, design and architectural education. The Bauhaus had a profound influence upon subsequent developments in art, architecture, graphic design, interior design, indu
