Article by  VISI Magazine  -  a proud partner of Inspire Expo 2016. With winter rolling in, the VISI team has been super busy sourcing the escapes, spaces and other necessities to get you through the cold season. With this issue in hand there is no reason to binge-watch series after series on your couch (although a good couch is certainly in the mix). What follows on our pages is sure to change your perception of winter as drab and dreary. The escapes Mhondoro Game Lodge in the heart of Welgevonden Reserve in Limpopo is the latest addition to a selection of five-star lodges in the area. It’s about more than a luxury getaway and panoramic Bushveld views, say the owners of Mhondoro, who are passionate about wildlife conservation. Article by  VISI Magazine  -  a proud partner of Inspire Expo 2016. Barclays Africa’s new Digital Development Office, designed by dhk, is situated in the well-known Longkloof Studios in the heart of Cape Town. The space, which is designed to accommodate 60 permanent developers, exudes a sense of playfulness, creativity and innovation. Flexibility was key, so dhk developed an adaptable space, which can change depending on project requirements. There are no personalised desks or workstations, supporting mobility and integration within the office space. Impromptu brainstorming sessions are also encouraged, with employees being able to write on most of the surfaces within the office.   Inspiration for the interior came from the building’s exterior facade and DHK kept all of the heritage building’s finishes and fittings. Exposed brickwork, restored timber and steel set the tone for the space. For more information, visit  dhk.co.za . TAGS:  architecture barclays south africa cape town decor

The client, who lives in a farmhouse of the ’60s on the site, asked us to design a structure for renting out as a luxury holiday unit, so guests have their small autonomous apartment and can fully enjoy the experience to live in the middle of nature. A maximum degree of privacy for both the client and the residing guest should be taken into consideration. The new structure is oriented towards east with their private garden and an autonomous access and parking for their guests. Each unit contains a kitchen / living room as well as a bath- and bedroom with big openable skylights to allow natural light and ventilation. A small basement serves for temporary storage. The projects initial volume is split in 2 units that are slightly shifted in height and length in order to loosening the
